Dear Writing friends,
At the beginning of April, I’ll begin a short sabbatical from my academic job. This will be the first time in a very long time - years and years, actually - that I’ll have a few dedicated weeks in which to think and write.
As the sabbatical approaches, I’m excited but I’m also starting to notice some anxious feelings creeping in. Will I get enough done? The terms of the sabbatical are clear and I’ve committed to concrete ‘outputs’ (as they’re so winningly labelled in academia) in the form of papers, a book proposal, chapters, etc.
How can I prepare and make sure that I don’t ‘waste’ a moment?
